I’ve never been to Hockley Valley Resort but couldn’t have picked a better time. The clouds stayed away and the leaves were all shades of beautiful. To top it all off… Stacey’s a great girl and Dan’s a great guy. That makes for a wicked wedding!
When I met Stacey the other night for a drink, it hit me. I had never heard the ‘engagement’ story. I do recall how they met but not how he proposed. Turns out Dan’s a pure gentleman right down to asking Stacey’s father for his permission before getting down on one knee.
With the help of friends, Dan set up a surprise day for Stacey that led her back to the spot where he first said ‘I love you’. The girls were going to meet for brunch but made a pit stop at another friends house and decided to go up to the condo for a couple minutes. That’s when Stacey saw the rose at the front door. Not thinking it was for her she was quick to make fun of it and proceeded to the door. That’s when it opened on its own and she froze. With a little shove from her girlfriend Tammy, Stacey was in the condo facing a path of rose petals. Only in fairy tales do doors open on their own…..unless it’s your soon to be fiance standing behind it. Dan led Stacey to the balcony where it began the rest of their life together as Mr. and Mrs. Dunn.
I’m truly shocked at how well he played it all. So many guys don’t realize the meaning behind ‘popping the question’ and the fact that he did it with such thought makes my heart melt. Actually, it made me tear up but those two things are pretty much the same thing. The only thing stopping me from tearing up right now is the thought of the timbit tree they had instead of a cake. Pure genius!!!
All the best in your future together!
